Yuno

A new sexual health service called Yuno launches across BNSSG on 1 April. The service is commissioned by Bristol City, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire councils. Yuno will offer free and confidential access to a wide range of services and will be provided by the NHS and a number of not-for-profit organisations working collaboratively. The pregnancy advisory service (abortion care) is separately commissioned by BNSSG ICB, and will be delivered by UHBW.

Access to most Yuno sexual health services will be though a new clinically supported easy-to-use website – https://yunosexualhealth.co.uk/, which acts as a digital front door. Managed by a team of experienced sexual health clinicians and other healthcare professionals, the platform will ensure people receive trusted, high-quality and timely care.

The Yuno website will enable people to confidentially order tests for sexually transmitted infections, free condoms and emergency contraception (if under 25) and receive treatment through the post or by collection from one of the sites in Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire, for some STIs.

People who need additional support, or treatment, or contraception can book a telephone or in-person appointment at a range of clinics across BNSSG. Some walk-in provision will be available for those who need it.

The digital front door will be managed by digital health experts SH:24.

In-person clinical services will be provided by University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW), working with the charity Brook.

Brook will also work with local charity Brigstowe to lead on health promotion and deliver a range of targeted, community-based interventions to support those who face greater health inequalities, including a condom distribution scheme for young people via community settings.

Professionals will still be able to access urgent clinical advice via a professional helpline (0117 342 6913).

Chlamydia and gonorrhoea self-sampling test kit distribution:

Once you have signed up to the  service,chlamydia/gonorrhoea test kits can be ordered from the ISHS via email: [email protected]

The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Guidance

The FSRH (The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare) guidance on contraceptive choices / emergency contraception for transgender and non-binary people and their partners.

The Local Authorities in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire want to ensure that local sexual health services, advice and guidance on emergency contraception / contraception and the BNSSG C Card scheme are inclusive for transgender and non-binary people.  The FSRH CEU Statement: Contraceptive Choices and Sexual Health for Transgender and Non-Binary People (October 2017) – Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare provides guidance for transgender and non-binary people and their partners, who are engaging in vaginal sex where there is a risk of pregnancy. The statement also offers general sexual health advice for these groups.  It is important for pharmacists to be familiar with the guidance as it provides helpful information to support relevant consultations / advice and guidance.
